Building our bedroom closet!! Our friend Bruno, apparently not pulling his weight.
Master bedroom FLOATING closet – half outside (hanging over the garage), half inside. I guess we need to figure out where Jeremy is going to put his stuff now…
Starting to lay the tubing for our heated floors! Four-man job….might actually be one of my favorite tasks. Not dirty, straight-forward, and you know immediately if you’ve done it right or wrong!
Family road trip to Hewins Sawmill in Wathena, Kansas…..buying our flitch table for kitchen!
Hewins brothers
On hand inventory
Leighton is making her round of inspections…
She’s tough!
Leighton and Jeremy trying to figure out which one to take home
THE WINNER!!! About 12ft long and 3ft deep….perfect kitchen table!
Now its time to get back to work – lumber delivery….hardwood floors that we are not ready for yet….
Damn that’s hard work…thanks for the helping hand, Louis!
Bonfire (West Bottoms style!) to finish the weekend….had some old stairs to burn FINALLY
After getting the guys nice and sauced, time to hit them up with a fun game of carrying our 500lb cast iron bathtub up….TWO floors. I think they will never come back for a bonfire again
Nice job, Men!
SOME FUNNY VIDEOS TO GET A SENSE OF THE EXPERIENCE. EXCUSE MY VIDEO-TAKING SKILLS (YES, I’m fully aware that the end of video #2 is side-ways. Just go with it!)
My Monkey Man Husband getting the ceiling in for our master bathroom
We have stairs!!!!
Where’s Jeremy?
Couldn’t have done it without our carpenter, Jerry. Badass
Get a good look at this beam – next trip we will be taking it out so that the next staircase can be built (doesn’t everyone have a north and south staircase???)
Now its time to tear out that DISGUSTING staircase….Callie’s nemesis
Callie getting the honors of removing the last piece. So excited she can’t stand still enough for the picture!
Jeremy warming his feet. Desperate times….
Notice the “bathroom” has been torn down. Good times. But hey, we have a toilet!
Background – apparently when framing out a structure that you hope to last indefinitely, its best to consult a professional.
Jeremy and Joe gave it a good try, but using shims as a way to make the structure level…..we’ve learned this is the not the best practice.
So we spend a day tearing down what had been built the last two days.
Thank God for carpenters
We were able to rebuild the bathroom and get started on the upstairs bathroom. Don’t know what we would have done without Jerry!
Basement – Keep in mind this is POST the power washing. Movie Theater….phase 4?
Grandpa’s Truck – Better Now, With Heat…thanks Cody!
FINISHED WALL – Jeremy and I thought we could do it alone…..had to call in reinforcements. Long day. Expert Masons now (Or maybe just Jeremy and Uncle Dan!)

October 2012 – Jeremy letting off steam after 12 hours of building a brick wall. Clearly Callie’s video-taking skills are sub par. Moving on…..

October 2012 – Jeremy getting ready to embark on becoming an expert mason
Toilet trials and tribulations in the West Bottoms. Someone actually took it in the middle of the night. Amazing
I felt slightly badass up there helping tear down the old bathroom…but much better once I came down
Crystal tearing it up! Sug, ready to show us what she’s got. Nice sneakers! Billy does look pretty badass
Going north/south JUST TO BE DIFFERENT (that doesn’t sound like Jeremy AT ALL) Bedroom Floors – pulled up flooring from main level – once planed, this is what it looks like. Beautiful oak we can salvage for the bedroom floor!
